Aspen Power Catamarans
1st Owners Rendezvous - June 19-20,2010
The three day event began with one of those crystal clear blue sky days only possible after you've had a big weather storm blow through the day before; Friday was grand. Four boats gathered at Sucia Island State Park coming from as far as Bainbridge Island, Friday Harbor, and Bellingham. The weekend was a mix of hiking, boat talk, a boat crawl to showcase boat owners rigging ideas and food; lots of food. We also had a grand dinghy tour, but it got very lumpy on the outside. Saturday's grand finallie was a casual cruise around the island with the Launch, exploring each cove and anchorage and stopping at the delightful standstone formations.
We only had two little events; Nick got a lesson in how fast you can role a kayak and got wet very FAST. Then Saturday, late afternoon, we were blown inside with gusts to 30+ kts. No rain, but wind we had!
Sunday was breakfast and a photo shoot with Larry climbing a crumbling clay ridge at the head of Fossil Bay to gain elevation-then straddling that ridge in a 20 kts breeze to shoot as the boats passed. Below are pictures from the event.
All the best,
Larry and Nick
